to clean up their businesses. you see the giant vacuum cleaner that people are using to suck water out of the carpet. there is mud covered everywhere here in downtown after a very traumatic day. >> at first, it was just a spectacle of nature. a downpour turned the normally calm river that runs downtown into an ugly, muddy rage. diverted water flow from a creek to underground. the crews reported hearing strange noises and then it blew. >> our house. >> thousands upon thousands of gallons of water cascaded down the hill and headed straight for homes and businesses in the downtown area. julie crane captured this footage of the water lapping at her front door t. went up a foot high and flooded her home. >> you were crying? >> oh, i was frightened. >> it's gone down a little bit. >> witnesses say a 2-foot wall of water and mud rushed through, inundating businesses with water at times that was knee deep. scott shot this video in front of the family business. >> seven minutes, it came up to here. and it came underneath our walls and our back door. the whole place became part of the riv

and what's more, they lied about it. joe vasquez showing us the surveillance tape. >> reporter: two incidents caught on camera in the 5th floor hawway of the henry hotel. watch as a group of people approach an apartment, they are undercover cops. the guys appear to put in a key, unlock the door, walk in and start making arrests. according to the public defender the cops barged in and didn't get permission. in their written police reports the officers claimed they asked a woman and she said it was okay. in the second video you see another group of people come in, then watch this, a police officer turns around and puts his hand up over the camera. he eventually lowers his hand and walks away. was he hiding something? according to the woman while the camera was blocked she was coerced into giving permission to let them go in. >> it's violating constitutional rights. >> reporter: a public defender said a judge dropped the case with the blocked camera on monday. prosecutors threw the other case out. >> wow. wow. dropped charged. we still got attacked. we still g discredited. >> reporte

vasquez shows us protestors got more than they bargained for. >> reporter: dana the stakes were pretty high. they face jail time and some serious academic punishment. instead the protestors out on the ledge walked out free tonight. dozens of police officers in riot beer marched towards the steps of wheeler hall. they sprayed pepper spray, protestors moved over to the west side of the steps and held their ground. >> we're sitting here and started getting kicked and pushed, i was grabbed by my neck, pushed also, people were falling all over us and we were getting beat. >> reporter: the demonstration began hours earlier when protestors literally bent out on a ledge, 6 of them chained themselves together and stood on a wide platform outside the 4th floor of wheeler hall. their comrades used a rope to lift up supplies like food and water. the police grabbed one through a window and alerted him leaving 8 on the ledge. they say they are angry to the budget cuts to the university of california system. they are also upset about layoffs. for hours they occupied the entire front steps of the buil
